Marun reservoir dam is built over a river of the same name 19 kilometers north of Behbahan city in Khuzestan province. The objectives of the project include flood control, supplying potable water to the city of Behbahan, etc. Marun reservoir dam is built over a river of the same name 19 kilometers north of Behbahan city in Khuzestan province. The objectives of this project include flood control and flow of the Maroun River, supply of potable water to Behbahan, water supply and development of agriculturein Behbahan, Jayzan, Khalfabat and Shadegan plains with an area of 55,000 hectares, as well as hydroelectric power generation. The dam is the 2nd highest Rockfill dam in Iran.
