The project is located on the Zilaki River, 8 km from Shahr-e-Bijar village, and 35 km from Rasht city, in Gilan province.

Ayatollah Bahjat (Shahr-e-Bijar) Reservoir Dam

The goals of this project are supplying potable water for cities of Rasht, Lahijan, Fouman, Langroud and suburbs.
The project was officially operated in Jan 2015.
This is the first CFRD dam (Concrete Face Rockfill Dam) in Iran

Dam type: Concrete Face Rockfill Dam (CFRD) 
Dam height: 90.5 m
Dam crest length: 430 m
Reservoir volume: 105 million m3
Spillway type:         Free Ogee
Diversion tunnel:         One tunnel, with dia. 3.8 m and length of 628 m, plus an earthfill cofferdam with soil-cement face.
Excavation volume: 2.1 million m3
Earth-fill volume: 3.9 million m3
Concrete Casting: 180.000 m3
Total length of tunnels and galleries:  1250 m
