This dam is constructed on Marun River, 19 km north of Behbahan city in Khuzistan province.
This dam is constructed on Marun River, 19 km north of Behbahan city in Khuzistan province.
The goals of this project are flood control of Marun river, supply of potable water for Behbahan city, supply of irrigation water for existing and extension irrigation land in Behbahan, Jaizan, Khalafabad, and shadegan with a total area of 55.000 hectares and also producing hydro-electric energy.
This dam is the second highest earth-fill dam in Iran.
The project was operated in Jan 1999.
